Ground Ferns
11. "Crown Fern" Blechnum discolor
A hardy Fern, between 50-100 cm (20-40 in.) tall. Contrasting new and old fronds give an interesting appearance. Develops a small trunk over time. Likes filtered light with good drainage.

12."Star Fern" - Blechnum fluviatile
A hardy Fern, 20-50 cm (8-20 in.) tall. A beautiful and decorative species with a low spreading habit. Easy to grow. Likes some shade with plenty of moisture in a rich, well-drained soil.
13. "Prickly Shield Fern" - Polystichum vestitum
A very hardy Fern, varies from 30-100 cm (12-40 in.) tall. Has dark green fronds and brown scales covering its distinctive stipes. Grows well in an open position which makes it adesirable fern in the garden.

14. "Kio-Kio Fern" - Blechnum capense
A hardy Fern, with beautiful arching fronds. Grows from 30-120 cm (12-48 in.) tall. The new frond growth appears in delicate nearly pink colours. Looks very nice on slopes or embankments. Grows well in either shaded or exposed situations.
15. "Maori Princess Fern" - Asplenium oblongifolium - bulbiferum
This is a wonderful Hybrid Fern that combines the best of 2 species. It is a hardy Fern, 80-100 cm (32-40 in.) tall. It has characteristics of both the "Hen and Chicken" fern form and the glossy fronds of the "Shining Spleenwort" fern. Likes moist well-drained soil and grows best in filtered light situations. It grows well indoors or outdoors, and is an excellent container Fern. (Limited availability unless ordered well ahead).

Hen And Chicken Fern 16. "Hen and Chicken Fern" - Asplenium Bulbiferum
An attractive lush tree fern grown indoors or outdoors. Fronds grow up to 100cm (40in) tall and are light green and feathery.
